Course Overview


The Equine Dry Needling (EQ-DN) is a 1+2-day hybrid course designed for veterinarians, physical therapists, and chiropractors with an interest in equine myofascial pain management.

This course will introduce health professionals to the management of equine myofascial pain using dry needling therapies. The EQ-DN course includes the management of 20 equine muscles. The course instructors are Drs. María Resano and Maria Calatayud, who are two Spanish clinicians and researchers who specialize in equine physiotherapy and rehabilitation.




Instructor

Dr. María Resano is a veterinary medicine physician with a Master’s degree in Equine Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy. She has multiple certifications in equine dry needling, equine Kinesio taping, equine sports massage, and veterinary acupuncture. María is a “Certified in Equine Rehabilitation Therapist” (CERT). She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. focusing on equine myofascial pain and dry needling at the Universidad Autónoma of Barcelona.



Dr. Maria Calatayud is a physical therapist who studied physiotherapy with the sole purpose of specializing in the physiotherapy treatment of horses. After graduation, she completed a Master’s in Osteopathic Manual Therapy followed by a Master’s in Equine Physiotherapy. She holds a Ph.D. focusing on equine myofascial pain and dry needling from the Universidad Autónoma of Barcelona.
